WESTON, Mass. – Senior Ben Lane (Rutland, Vt.) had an outstanding day Friday afternoon to lead the Lasell College men's track & field team in the Regis College Spring Classic at Regis Stadium, an event featuring a dozen schools.
Lane took first place in two events, the 100 and 200-meter dashes, and broke his own school record in the 100. He ran a time of 11.45 seconds in the preliminaries of the 100, and lowered it to 11.34 seconds in the finals, bettering his own school record of 11.39 seconds set last year. He also ran a 23 seconds flat to win the 200 meters. There were 22 sprinters in the 100 and 30 in the 200.
Sophomore Ben Biello (North Dighton, Mass.) also competed in the 100 and 200 meter races for Lasell, placing 16th in the 100 with a time of 12.39 seconds, and 14th in the 200 in a season-best time of 24.76 seconds.
Lasell had two entries in the 800 meters, as junior Matt Holden (Methuen, Mass.) placed 13th among 31 runners in a season-best time of 2:13.68, and classmate Kyle Mullen (West Newbury, Mass.) was 28th in 2:37.22. He finished 22nd in the shot put with a mark of 8.89 meters (29'2"), and 23rd in the discus with a mark of 22.84 meters (74'11").
