Lasers Topped by Saints
Boston, MA- The Emmanuel College Saints won a three-set match against the Lasell College mens volleyball team Wednesday evening at the Jean Yawkey Center. The Saints are currently undefeated at 3-0 in league play and the Lasers even out to 1-1 after the match. The hosting Saints topped the Lasers by scores of 30-22, 30-17, 30-21.

The Saints are currently undefeated at 3-0 in league play and the Lasers even out to 1-1 after the match. The hosting Saints topped the Lasers by scores of 30-22, 30-17, 30-21.
Lasell traded points with the Saints in the opening set which culminated in a 10-all tie. After a 4-0 run by Emmanuel, the Lasers fell behind and could not catch back up. The game ended with a kill down the middle by Emmanuel's Tyson Rietz (Granite Bay, Calif.).
Lasell fell behind quickly in the second set, 14-4, and could not get back on track to close the gap. The Lasers remained in a double-figure deficit throughout the game.
In the third set, Lasell took an early 1-0 lead on a Spencer Parker (Newington, CT) monster kill. The lead seesawed four times before the either side hit their tenth point, at which point Mike Harrington (Billerica, MA) aced the Lasers into an 11-10 advantage. Emmanuel struck back by pushing a 29-21 spread for match point. A Lasell error ended the match in favor of the Saints.
Parker was the team-leader in kills for Lasell, earning 11 points on his attack. Micah Aiu (Honolulu, HI) also produced seven kills in the contest and Harrington chipped in five. Harrington also deposited two solo and one assisted blocks on the opponents court.
Brendan McGourn (Southington, CT) dished out 23 assists in the contest, and matched for a team-high in digs with Will Leclerc (Fairfield, CT). Both McGourn and Leclerc picked up four digs apiece.
Lasell, now 5-3 overall, continue on in GNAC play on Friday, February 5th at Emerson College. First serve is at 7:00 p.m.
