Men's Volleyball Dictates Match Against Daniel Webster
NASHUA, NH- Lasell College swept the Daniel Webster Eagles, 3-0, in non-conference mens volleyball play on Wednesday night at the Mario Vagge Gymnasium. The Lasers were victorious by scores of 30-18, 30-23, 30-26 in the North East Collegiate Volleyball Association (NECVA) regional matchup.
NASHUA, NH- Lasell College swept the Daniel Webster Eagles, 3-0, in non-conference men's volleyball play on Wednesday night at the Mario Vagge Gymnasium. The Lasers were victorious by scores of 30-18, 30-23, 30-26 in the North East Collegiate Volleyball Association (NECVA) regional matchup.
The Lasers dictated the flow of the match from the start, using a balanced attack and a .361 hitting percentage as a team to take their fifth triumph out of their last six games. Lasell put down more than double the amount of blocks as Daniel Webster (12.5-6.0) in the match and held an outstanding 44-25 margin in kills, and 41-20 margin in assists.
Dan Rogers (Belchertown, MA) and Matt Roberts (Agawam, MA) matched nine kills, three blocks, and two aces each, leading the way for Lasell. Mike Harrington (Billerica, MA) and Alex Mill (Danville, NH) were also strong performers at the net for the Lasers, dropping in six kills apiece.
Brendan McGourn (Southington, CT) distributed 34 assists, added four digs, three blocks, and three kills and freshman libero Max Vaughan (Wethersfield, CT) scooped up a game-best 10 digs.
For the hosting Eagles, Chris Shannon (Ronkonkoma, NY) chipped in with nine kills and Eric Smith (Clay, NY) did his part with eight kills, eight assists, and ten digs.
Lasell visits MIT on Saturday, March 6th to face Carthage and Mount St. Vincent beginning at 4:30 p.m.
