Lasers Ace Their Way to GNAC Victory
Newton, MA- Lasells mens volleyball team scored thirty points on service aces alone as the Lasers dominated the Falcons of Albertus Magnus College on Tuesday evening in a 3-0 match (30-9, 30-13, 30-10). The game marked the Lasers season opener in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (1-0), and proved to be their fourth consecutive win. Lasell has a 5-2 overall record.

The game marked the Lasers' season opener in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (1-0), and proved to be their fourth consecutive win. Lasell currently holds a 5-2 overall record.
The Lasers tore away from the Falcons immediately in the first game, as Dan Rogers (Belchertown, MA) went on a 6-0 service run which included three aces and two kills by Mike Harrington (Billerica, MA) to go ahead 9-3. Will Leclerc (Fairfield, CT) then dropped in four more successive services aces towards the middle of the set, and Brendan McGourn (Southington, CT) finished off the streak with four aces in the final points of the match. Spencer Parker (Newington, CT) hit 80% in the set, going four-for-five at the net.
Set two proved to be quite similar to the first as Rogers finished up his match-high seven service aces with four additional bombs, to put Lasell ahead, 9-2. Leclerc stepped into the setters role in second set and dished out 11 assists. Matt Roberts (Agawam, MA) struck on four kills, with an 100% attack percentage, and Micah Aiu (Honolulu, HI) and Alex Mill (Danville, NH) each notched three kills in the set with Mills adding four digs.
Leclerc began the final set with four aces, putting Lasell ahead 6-0 before the Falcons scored their first point. Roberts, once again, hit with 100% accuracy, putting down another four kills in the game. Aiu contributed four aces and two kills, and Harry Strobel (Westport, CT) produced three more service points in the Lasers victory.
Throughout the match, the Lasers hit 54.5% as a team and averaged twelve kills and ten aces per set.
Lasell continues GNAC play on Wednesday night at Emmanuel College. The Lasers will face the Saints at 7:00 p.m.
