Emerson Proves No Match for Lasell on Senior Night
Newton, MA - The Lasell Lasers finished out their regular season in great fashion dominating Emerson 30-18, 30-26, 30-18 on senior night on Thursday evening. Tyler Hammond (Hadley, MA), Dave Rogers (Belchertown, MA), Gary Gay (Belchertown, MA) and Joe Lipski (Burlington, CT) all played their final game on their home court at the Lasell College Athletic Center, as they improved the Lasers record to 20-9, and 9-3 in the GNAC.
On his senior night Lipski lead the team with 10 digs in the three sets. Gay had a team high 17 assists to go along with 3 kills and 5 digs. Hammond also recorded 3 kills and 5 digs on the outside for the Lasers, and Rogers had a team high 11 kills, complimented by 5 digs.
Helping the seniors get a win in their final home game was conference rookie of the year Brendan McGourn (Southington, Conn.) who had 9 assists, 2 digs and 1 ace. Matt Roberts (Agawam, Mass.) had 6 kills and 3 solo blocks, while Dustin Foster (Ashford, Conn.) had 4 kills, 2 solo blocks and 2 block assists.
With this final win the Lasers earned the 2nd overall spot and will take on the 3rd seeded Emmanuel College in the semifinals of the GNAC tournament.
