Track and Field Competes at Smith Winter Classic
The Lasers traveled to Smith College on Saturday, December 5th to compete in the Smith Winter Classic. A total of 17 runners competed in the first varsity meet for the Indoor Track and Field Team. During the meet, a total of six records, that had been set during the team's time as a club team, were broken.
On the women's side Cate Hart (Dedham, MA) ran a time of 9.74 in the 55 meter dash and Meagan McCole (West Bridgewater, MA) ran a time of 1:16.40 in the 400 meter race. Sophomore Meghan Missett (Loewll, MA) ran a time of 12:24:88 for the 3000 meter run, placing 7th overall. These are all new school records for the Lasers.
On the men's side, three first year runners set the pace for the Lasers. Matt Scully (Watertown, CT) ran a time of 4:44.8 in the mile run, placing 5th overall and breaking '09 graduate Chris Johnson's record. Issac Montoya (El Paso, TX) set a school record in the 55 meter high hurdles with a time of 9.68 and Issac Soares (Somerset, MA) placed 7th in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:09.04.
The teams will be not be back in action until January 16th, 2010 when they will travel to Brandeis University to compete in the Reggie Poyau Invitational.
