Indoor Track & Field to become Varsity Program in Fall 2009
Beginning in the Fall of 2009, the Lasell College Athletic Department will introduce intercollegiate Men's and Women's Track & Field to their Varsity Sports Roster. Indoor Track & Field will compete in the NCAA DIII with a full winter schedule after competing for two seasons as a club sport.
The team will be run by Head Coach Larry Sullivan and Assistant Coach James Martin, who also run Lasell's Cross Country program and have been actively recruiting for the upcoming season. With the current core group of students who have been dedicated to Track & Field as a club sport, and the addition of new student-athletes recruits, the Lasers are ready to make the leap to a competitive varsity team.
Lasell will practice not only at their own facilities in the athletic center and on Grellier Field, but will also split practice time in the Field House at Brandeis University.
The Lasers will compete independent of a conference in the 2009-2010 season.
The addition of Track & Field will boost Lasell to fifteen varsity sports.
