Lasers Contend with Roger Williams; Drop 13-12 Decision

BRISTOL, R.I. – The Lasell College men's lacrosse team overcame a four-goal deficit twice in the contest, but fell short to Roger Williams University, 13-12, at Bayside Field Wednesdays evening. Lasell drops its second straight contest at 0-2, while the Hawks win their first game at home at 1-1.

Eddie Hill (Ridgefield, Conn.) scored the first of his six goals of the game in the less than two minutes into the game before Lasell's Austin Tomasetti (Elmsford, N.Y.) knotted the game at one with a goal at the 12:10 mark.

Roger Williams would then score four straight goals over a five-minute stretch in the opening quarter for a 5-1 lead. James Torosian (Lynn, Mass.) got back one of those scores with 2:27 left to pull the Lasers within three.

In the second quarter, Lasell's offense began to pick up, outscoring the Hawks 4-2 in the period. Alex McCormack-Kuhman (Wells, Maine) scored twice in the frame to help Lasell trail by only one going into halftime (6-7).

The third quarter saw both teams roll off four goals in the frame. Hill and AJ Core (Syosset, N.Y.) began the period with goals for RWU, followed by a man-up goal by Lasell's (Anthony Saitta (Derry, N.H.). Ryan Lewis (Sherman, Conn.) and Jude Marzec (West Islip, N.Y.) built Roger Williams' lead back up to four with back-to-back scores, but the Lasers ended the period with three straight scores to go into the fourth quarter still down by only one (10-11).

Hill put RWU up by two with a goal in the opening minute of the final quarter. However, the Lasers answered with a pair of goals, with Saitta notching the equalizer with 10:33 left in the game. Hill would come back with the eventual game winner with 7:57 left to play. In the final minute, Lasell was able to regain possession and tried to notch the game-tying goal in the closing seconds. However, they would turn the ball over, allowing RWU to escape with victory.
