NEWTON, Mass. (10/14/17) -- The Lasell College field hockey team remained perfect in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play, defeating conference newcomer Regis College 4-0 Saturday afternoon at Grellier Field.
Prior to the game, Lasell honored the seven graduating seniors of the field hockey program. Shannon Motz (Readington, N.J.), Erin Murray (Lexington, Mass.), Erica Connors (South Berwick, Maine), Taylor Falco (Hazlet, N.J.), Leah Sullivan (Mansfield, Mass.), Denise Landry (New Milford, Conn.), and Brianna Kulvete (Templeton, Mass.) have led this year's team to the best start in program history.
Murray ignited the offensive surge for the Lasers, finishing a pass of the corner in the 6th minute.
Reigning GNAC Player of the Week, Nikki Pignone (Ipswich, Mass.) scored her first of two goals on the afternoon in the 11th minute of play, giving the Lasers a 2-0 lead. Samantha Taylor (Hanover, Mass.) scored the Lasers third goal of the game in the 25th minute, as the Lasers held a 3-0 advantage heading into halftime.
The Lasers outshot the Pride 27-3 in the victory, including 13-1 in the first half.
Landry and Kulvete split time in net for the Lasers, each recording a save. Maresa Malcolm (Barrington, N.J.) recorded 12 saves in the loss for Regis.
Lasell is back in action on Tuesday as they step away from conference action on the road to face Western Connecticut State at 7:00 p.m. The Pride will host Colby-Sawyer in non-conference action on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
