THORNTON REPEATS AS NAC ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
For the second consecutive week, Christine
Thornton, a freshman goalkeeper from Canton, MA, was
recognized for her accomplishments in the field hockey net by the
North Atlantic Conference.
This is Thornton's second Rookie of the Week
distinction from the NAC this season, after picking up her first
honor last week as co-Rookie of the Week. This week, Thornton
stands alone, after picking up 29 saves in three games, two of
which were North Atlantic Conference match ups.
Thornton started the week with a shut out win over Regis College, 5-0, in which she picked up two saves. Then in conference play, Thornton produced 16 saves against the University of Maine, Farmington and 11 saves against Thomas College. The Lasers split for the weekend 1-1.
As a freshman, Thornton is leading the NAC in saves (72 total) and saves per game (10.29 avg), and is currently ranked second in save percentage (.818).
