Six Questions with Javon Williams

What attracted you to Lasell College?

I was attracted to Lasell College for the location. I didn't want to be too far from home but not that close either. The basketball program here had just come off a championship run and I knew I wanted to be a part of a championship team. Also, the growing communication program attracted me because I knew I wanted to do something with the media but didn't know exactly what. Lasell's program helped me figure out exactly what I could do.

Has there been anything that has been a surprise to you about your experience at Lasell College?

Lasell really pushes its students to take the next step and get out into the real world while in college. It prepared me for what is out there once I graduate, while showing me that it would stick by me after I graduate to continue to help.

Is there anything specific you have learned at Lasell College that you think will help you after you graduate?

I learned to stick to one goal and accomplish that goal by any means necessary, and to continue to grow as a person.

How have your experiences as an athlete added to the learning that has occurred during your time at Lasell?

They have worked hand-in-hand; I am a student-athlete, student first and athlete second. My school work has acted as a guideline for me. I know I want do well in the classroom and I have to organize my time well if I want to be able to play basketball.

What was your best experience as a student-athlete at Lasell?

My best experience was being recognized as the Student Athlete of the Year here at Lasell in 2011. It was truly an honor for me to represent the Men's Basketball team in that way and I am really proud of that moment.

What do you hope to do after you graduate?

I hope to play basketball in some shape or form as a full time job. That would be an ideal situation, but if it doesn’t pan out then I would like to work in media production. I interned with Think Forward Media Production, where I helped assist with music videos. That experience helped me realize that I would really like to become a director of some sort working on a major production or on the set of a movie.
